Who am I ?

Startupolic, combining the words startup and (work)aholic, is a blog dedicated to share my passion about startups, especially web and mobile startups. My name is Sébastien Flury and I’m living in Northwestern Switzerland.

Blogging to share ideas and opinions, mostly on startups and on strategies. I do my best to promote the Swiss startup scene and connect the dots. I am a “startup activist” and a huge fan of the “pay it forward” philosophy.

Startupolic mission is to foster entrepreneurship spirit and tech startups.
After some years in the banking industry, I jumped into the startup world in 2008 and was active during more than 4 years as a startup mentor and business developer for a technology park in Northwestern Switzerland.

I left in Summer 2012 to co-found my own startup, Coteries, which used to be “The Mobile Fan Club of musicians” before pivoting to a full digital agency early 2015. We provide the full spectrum of digital services, from UX design and MVP development (Minimum Viable Products) to lab services to complete web or mobile applications. We have also a large experience in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (especially in NLP/NLG). We also provide digital marketing services (content marketing, SEO, SEM, Emailiing). I act as CEO, mainly responsible for Business Development, Project Management and Digital Marketing.

I used to be running several startup events (SICTIC Investor Day Lausanne, INNOCAMPUS Talks, Startup Weekend Biel/Bienne and Swiss Tech Talks Biel/Bienne). I’m also advising TechBridge (and acting as startup scout).

Finally, in April 2015, I was appointed Program Director of the first fintech startup accelerator of Switzerland, Fintech Fusion. I set up the program, recruited the 2 first batches of startups and finally left early 2017 to fully come back to my company, Coteries.
You can mostly find me in the train between Biel/Bienne and Lausanne/Geneva, at EPFL Innovation Park or in Zürich.

On a more personal side: I love winter sports (playing ice hockey, addicted to snowboard & ski) and am the proud dad of 2 young boys and a little girl!
